My X301 is now Multitouch!
chrixx | November 20, 2009Today, my new X301 palm rest arrived, after a 2 week wait on a special order from IBM. The parts were shipped directly from the US and cost me $77. It was definitely a worthy upgrade as I am finally able to replace the poor Alps touchpad on my X301 with the new Synaptics multitouch touchpad. Two finger scrolling FTW!

I read your comment on the multitouch trackpad on the notebookreview forum. What problems did you face on the Alps touchpad which made you buy the synaptics touchpad? I recently purchased an x301 through ebay Brand New sealed which was 6 months old and when I checked the parts it had shipped with the Alps one. Is there major difference between Alps and Synaptics one? Does the synaptics touchpad support all multitouch gestures like zooming, pinching, rotating etc ? Does new Lenovo x301 come with synaptics touchpad or is it luck of the draw? Lenovo does not advertise or mention anywhere that x301 comes with multitouch trackpad? If you have any clue when did Lenovo x301 start shipping with a multitouch trackpad as one person who had recently purchased an x301 received a synaptics touchpad?
