Pretty cool! Forgive my shaky hands.
Upgrading blog, so it doesn’t look nice at the moment. Stay tuned folks!
By the way, you might have noticed that this site’s content sounds very unpolished, with lots of typos and grammatical errors. They are apparently intentional but somewhere along the way, I lost track of the intentional errors I made. Therefore, help me spot them and drop me a line so I can fix them up.
KL is fantastic! I can basically get everything that I am looking for, even the most obscure of all gadgets. I’m beginning to love this place for the amount of shopping you can actually do. This is also the main reason why a gadget freak like me should never ever live in a big city like that. It’s always safer to live within the confines of a small town like Penang where you spend little because it is impossible to find the stuff I always need.
Upon stepping into Low Yat, a salesperson approach me, asking “What are you looking for, sir?”. Ok, maybe he didn’t greet me with “Sir”, but close enough. I was looking for an audio adaptor. A 2.5mm to 3.5mm headphone adaptor to be exact. You’ll never find stuff like this in Penang because nobody knows what it is. I was shocked when the salesperson actually know what I’m looking for and actually has it. I almost fainted from the shock. I’ve found cellphone Nirvana. He presented me with a whole range of adaptors for all types of phones. I couldn’t believe what I am seeing. I quickly tried them out and bought one for my Moto and another for my SP5. The Motorola adaptors are the rarest commodity as they are virtually impossible to source, even online. The salesperson must have thought I’m nuts because I presume few people react like I did. I didn’t even offer to spend time bargaining as these are quality stuff man.
Then came the hunt for 1GB miniSD cards. These were selling for like RM700 a year or so ago. I managed to get genuine Kingston ones for RM260 and they are awesome. Beware of Sandisk branded ones as there are a lot of imitation cards out there.
I also managed to find Sony, Panasonic, Koss earphones. The Sony ones are only RM159 without bargaining, while greedy traders in Penang are still selling them for RM180 post-haggling. There’s another shop in Gurney asking a whopping RM280 for them. Now you know why getting electronics in Penang sucks.
These shops in KL sell virtually any computing stuff you’ll ever need. I managed to get proper hard disks, batteries and even good web cams for reasonable prices. There’s even the audio extension cables which I’ve spent ages looking in Penang. I suppose there simply ain’t any market in Penang for these things. I still want the ThinkOutside bluetooth keyboard, but then it is still too expensive for something I cannot see myself using much. After all, I must start saving for the more important things…….
