Are You A Loser?

chrixx | July 10, 2005Initial D is a bad influence. Trust me on that. It’s a damn f***king good movie. The race scenes were shot perfectly, the drifts were great and the characters played out well. Jay Chou speaking Cantonese is weird and I wonder if he actually knows the stuff he’s saying. Hehe….
So why is Initial D a bad influence? Well, as though we’re not crazy enough over street racing, now there’s a MOVIE about it. The Japanese are car-crazy and their drifting techniques are superior. Now I can expect to see boy racers drifting their way around Gurney and the various “new” expressways in Penang. The movie does get your pulses racing and suddenly you really want to put your Protons and Corollas through its paces. Ah, well, if only their not automatics. That strikes my car out (and the any chances of racing, obviously). At least in the movie, the protagonist never crashes and never lands a scratch on his car. In real life, though, things are sooo different. I can just park my car in a lorong and EXPECT it to be scratched by some nice driver who tries to maneuver his S-Class through the narrow space.
